Setelah menyempatkan datang untuk berkunjung ke Departemen Hubungan Internasional Universitas Hasanuddin pada 5 September kemarin untuk pertama kalinya, beliau kemudian hadir kembali untuk mengampu mata kuliah Metodologi Ilmu Hubungan Internasional yang akan dilaksanakan sebanyak dua kali dalam rangkaian kegiatan lain beliau selama berada di Makassar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dalam kuliah perdananya, Mr. Moerman dengan resmi memperkenalkan diri dan menyampaikan rasa terima kasihnya dan merasa terhormat atas kesempatan yang diberikan untuk dapat mengampu mata kuliah metodologi bagi mahasiswa semester tiga dan lima Ilmu Hubungan Internasional. Materi pembuka yang beliau bawakan terdiri dari penjelasan dasar Ilmu Pengetahuan dan metodologi itu sendiri. Beliau mengutip pengertian ilmu pengetahuan menurut Pieter Sjoerd Koningsveld yang merupakan seorang ilmuwan dan filsuf asal Belanda. Koningsveld berpendapat bahwa \u201c<em>the objective of science is the formulation of explanatory theories concerning empirical reality<\/em>\u201d. Dalam ilmu pengetahuan, mengaitkan sebuah teori dengan realitas empiris dapat menjadi sebuah tantangan, disinilah metodologi berperan sebagai jembatan untuk dapat menghubungkan teori yang berupa ide dengan empiris yang berhubungan dengan bukti nyata.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"565\" src=\"https:\/\/hi.fisip.unhas.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/IMG-20240925-WA0012-1-1024x565.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2590\" srcset=\"https:\/\/hi.fisip.unhas.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/IMG-20240925-WA0012-1-1024x565.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/hi.fisip.unhas.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/IMG-20240925-WA0012-1-300x166.jpg 300w, https:\/\/hi.fisip.unhas.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/IMG-20240925-WA0012-1-768x424.jpg 768w, https:\/\/hi.fisip.unhas.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/IMG-20240925-WA0012-1.jpg 1170w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Lebih lanjut Mr. Moerman menjelaskan mengenai <em>Middle-range Theories<\/em> yang dikembangkan oleh Robert K. Merton dan di tempatkan di antara dua tingkatan ekstrem dalam teori sosiologi yaitu <em>Grand Theories<\/em> yang berisi teori abstrak dengan cakupan yang luas, <em>Middle-range Theories<\/em> yang berguna untuk menghubungkan bukti empiris dengan cakupan yang lebih spesifik , dan <em>Background Literatur<\/em> yang menjelaskan dengan lebih detail mengenai suatu teori. Beliau kemudian menjelaskan mengenai <em>Induction<\/em> adalah proses penarikan kesimpulan dengan <em>Vertical Logic<\/em>, di mana kesimpulan tersebut bergerak dari fakta dan data yang dikumpulkan lalu kemudian menuju sebuah teori umum atau kesimpulan. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sementara <em>Deduction<\/em> bergerak dengan arah sebaliknya, yaitu dengan menggunakan sebuah teori atau kesimpulan sebagai acuan lalu kemudian menggunakan data dan fakta sebagai validasi atau disebut dengan istilah <em>Falsification Logic<\/em>.\u00a0Sebagai akhir dari kuliahnya, Mr. Moerman kemudian menjelaskan mengenai penerapan <em>Verification Logic <\/em>yang dimulai dengan pengamatan, perumusan teori, dan diakhiri dengan menyusun kesimpulan. Sementara <em>Falsification logic <\/em>dimulai dengan penentuan masalah, perumusan teori, observasi dan diakhiri dengan evaluasi hasil. Setelah menyelesaikan seluruh materi, sesi tanya jawab dibuka untuk memberi kesempatan kepada para mahasiswa untuk menggali lebih dalam mengenai penerapan metodologi dalam penelitian. Penjelasan mendetail tersebut pun menutup pemaparan materi yang dibawakan oleh Mr. Moerman pada kuliah perdananya.
