IR Laboratory

About

Hasanuddin University’s International Relations Laboratory (IR Lab) focuses on three agendas, namely Study, Research and Community Service. This laboratory is part of efforts to implement the Tridharma of Higher Education within the scope of the Department of International Relations. Activities related to the study include public lectures, public discussions, and dissemination of research results. In the field of research, activities include preparing research proposals to submit to partners, competitive grants, and independent research. Furthermore, the IR Lab is also responsible for ensuring that research activities progress until they become publications through monitoring and evaluation. In the field of community service, activities carried out include mentoring, workshops, training and simulations. In carrying out its activities, the Unhas HI Lab has three study focuses, namely Global Political Economy, International Security Studies, and Regional Studies.

Focus and Topics

Global Political Economy

This theme focuses on the contemporary global political economic regime and the interactions between actors within it. The issues raised in this theme include International Trade, Development Strategy, International Development Cooperation, Multinational Companies, and Development Ethics.

International Security Studies

This theme focuses on traditional and non-traditional security issues. Traditional security issues concentrate on issues of sovereignty, war, and threats to the existence of the state. Meanwhile, non-traditional security issues focus on issues of human security, the environment and global terrorism.

Regional Studies

This theme focuses on regional dynamics within a particular geographic area. Issues discussed include regional organization, regional economic and political development, as well as the characteristics of each region.
