Makassar, September 11, 2026 — The Department of International Relations, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Hasanuddin University, strengthened its institutional network through the signing of a Partnership Agreement (Perjanjian Kerja Sama/PKS) with the Provincial National Narcotics Agency (BNN) of South Sulawesi.
The partnership opens opportunities for collaboration in the fields of academics, education, and community engagement, particularly in supporting efforts to prevent drug abuse and illicit drug trafficking. The collaboration between the higher education institution and government agency represents an effort to strengthen institutional synergy in addressing issues affecting society.
For the academic community, this partnership provides opportunities to broaden students’ learning experiences through interaction with an institution that has direct experience in addressing drug-related issues. Such engagement can enrich students’ understanding of issues related to social, security, public policy, and institutional dimensions.
Interaction between the academic community and government institutions also provides students with opportunities to gain broader perspectives on addressing drug-related issues. Through the exchange of knowledge and experience, students can explore the connection between academic learning and various challenges encountered in society.

At the same time, this collaboration provides an opportunity for the university to contribute through education and community engagement. The exchange of knowledge between the two institutions is expected to support the development of activities that are relevant to community needs, while strengthening the role of higher education institutions in contributing academic perspectives to social and security-related issues.
Through the signing of this Partnership Agreement, the Department of International Relations, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Hasanuddin University, and the Provincial National Narcotics Agency of South Sulawesi establish a foundation for sustainable cooperation. The collaboration is expected to strengthen institutional relations while providing academic contributions to efforts aimed at preventing drug abuse and illicit drug trafficking.
This partnership also forms part of the Department of International Relations’ efforts to expand its network with various stakeholders and create opportunities for collaboration that support academic development, education, and community engagement.
