Jakarta, 12 February 2026 — The Department of International Relations at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Hasanuddin, participated in a visit program titled “A Day with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.” During the event, representatives of students and lecturers had the opportunity to engage in a direct dialogue with Indonesia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sugiono, to gain a closer understanding of Indonesia’s diplomatic practices.
The program was attended by 18 students and 9 accompanying lecturers from nine partner universities. The agenda consisted of several activities, including a tour of Gedung Pancasila, an interactive dialogue session with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, and a visit to the Public Service and Protection of Indonesian Citizens (WNI) Building. In addition, participants joined a Meet the Diplomats session aimed at creating a more comprehensive discussion space between students and young diplomats from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The discussion session with Minister Sugiono was moderated by the Director General of Information and Public Diplomacy. During the discussion, several strategic issues were addressed, including developments in global geopolitics, the role of youth in diplomacy, and the relevance of ASEAN in responding to increasingly complex regional dynamics.
Prior to this event, the Department of International Relations at Universitas Hasanuddin had also participated in a “Watch Party of the Annual Press Statement of the Minister of Foreign Affairs (PPTM) 2026,” which examined the direction and priorities of Indonesia’s foreign policy.
The continuity of these activities is expected to expand collaboration among universities while strengthening the capacity of International Relations students to better understand diplomatic practices firsthand, enabling them to contribute to the development of Indonesia’s future generation of diplomats.
