
Makassar, 12 December 2025 — The Department of International Relations, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Hasanuddin University, held a socialization event for the Master’s Program (S2) in International Relations at the Parepare City Communication and Information Agency on Friday, December 12, 2025. This event, held in Parepare City, is part of an effort to introduce the Master’s Program (S2) in International Relations at FISIP UNHAS, expand the dissemination of academic information, and strengthen institutional networks between universities and local governments.
The socialization event featured representatives from the Department of International Relations, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Hasanuddin University, who presented the profile of the Master’s Program in International Relations, including its vision, curriculum, research-based learning approach, and opportunities for professional competency development for civil servants and officials from the Communication and Information Agency of Parepare City. The program also emphasized the uniqueness of International Relations studies at Hasanuddin University, which focuses on maritime issues and diplomacy in Eastern Indonesia.

This socialization began with a speech by the Head of the Communication and Information Agency of Parepare City, who emphasized the importance of increasing human resource capacity through continuing education to strengthen analytical skills, public communication, and understanding of global dynamics. This is increasingly relevant amid the development of information technology, the digital transformation of government, and the growing need for effective policy communication at the regional level. Furthermore, appreciation was also expressed for the initiative of the Department of International Relations, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Hasanuddin University, in establishing academic communication with local governments as part of strengthening institutional collaboration.
The event then continued with a speech by the Head of the Department of International Relations, FISIP UNHAS, who emphasized the strategic role of International Relations studies in supporting regional governance, particularly in the context of public communication, regional diplomacy, cross-regional cooperation, and strengthening the capacity of the apparatus in the era of globalization and digital transformation. The event then continued with material presentations and discussion sessions.

The discussion session was interactive, with participants asking various questions about the lecture system, schedule flexibility for working students, and the master’s program registration mechanism. This enthusiasm demonstrates the strong interest among local government officials in continuing education relevant to their professional needs.

The event concluded with a group photo session and the presentation of souvenirs as a symbol of strengthened institutional relations. Through this activity, sustainable collaboration will be established between the Department of International Relations, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, UNHAS, and local governments in the fields of education, research, and human resource capacity building in the era of globalization.
