Makassar, 6 December 2025 — The Focus Group Discussion (FGD) with Partners and Alumni Users was held as part of the commitment of the Department of International Relations, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, UNHAS, to develop an adaptive, relevant, and responsive curriculum that meets the needs of the world of work. The implementation of the K-23 Curriculum, which includes improvements to the Graduate Profile and Graduate Learning Outcomes (CPL), requires comprehensive external validation through dialogue with stakeholders, including graduate users from various government agencies and institutions that are strategic partners. Through this FGD, the Department of International Relations obtained empirical input regarding the suitability of graduate competencies with professional demands, both in the fields of public policy, public service, data analysis, and organizational communication. In addition, this FGD was held to support the alignment of perceptions of the Competency Strengthening Course (MKPK) assessment that will be implemented in the Final Semester of 2025. MKPK is a strategic course in shaping students’ character, professional mindset, soft skills, and work ethics. As the professional world becomes increasingly complex, MKPK assessment standards need to be harmonized in order to measure students’ readiness more objectively and structurally.

This event was held at the Aryaduta Hotel in a hybrid format on Saturday, December 6, 2026. Partners and alumni users who were unable to attend in person joined via the Zoom platform. Through direct dialogue with alumni users, this forum produced a clearer mapping of the suitability of learning outcomes with professional needs, competency gaps that are still found, and opportunities for collaboration to strengthen student practical experience. These findings form an important basis for refining the K-23 curriculum, adjusting teaching methods, and aligning the assessment of Competency Strengthening Courses (MKPK) to be more relevant to the dynamics of the world of work and the expectations of graduate users.

The 2025 Alumni User FGD provides a comprehensive overview of the competencies of HI FISIP UNHAS graduates in the world of work. In general, students are considered to have good adaptability, digital skills, and work ethic. However, there are still several areas that need improvement, particularly self-confidence, strengthening foreign languages other than English, strengthening domestic policy, and professional communication skills. This activity also provides clear direction for curriculum development and alignment of perceptions regarding the assessment of the Final Semester 2025 MKPK to support improvements in learning quality and student readiness to enter the workforce. Through structured follow-up actions—including formal internship preparation, curriculum revision, and enhanced institutional collaboration—the Department of International Relations at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, UNHAS, strives to ensure that future graduates become increasingly competitive and relevant to the evolving professional demands.
