On Monday, September 9th, 2024, the Department of International Relations Hasanuddin University successfully invited Dr. G.A. (Gerben) Moerman as a representative of the University of Amsterdam, for his inaugural official visit to the university. The visit marked a significant milestone in the collaboration between the two institutions. Dr. Moerman’s visit was welcomed by the Rector of Hasanuddin University, Prof. Dr. Ir. Jamaluddin Jompa, M.Sc., and the Dean of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Prof. Dr. Phil. Sukri, S.IP., M.Si.
The meeting was part of the university’s broader initiative, featuring a series of 13 academic activities under the Adjunct Professor Program, which was coordinated by the Department of International Relations. This program aims to foster academic exchanges and professional collaboration, reinforcing the university’s commitment to expanding global academic ties.
Dr. Moerman’s visit comes on the heels of an agreement formalized last year when the Rector of Hasanuddin University, alongside senior faculty members including Prof. Dr. H. Darwis, M.A., Ph.D., and Aswin Baharuddin, S.IP., M.A., visited the University of Amsterdam. This reciprocal visit reaffirms both universities’ dedication to strengthening academic partnerships and exploring opportunities for joint research and educational development.
In recognition of Dr. Moerman’s valuable contributions, Hasanuddin University presented him with a commemorative plaque, symbolizing the mutual respect and commitment both institutions share in advancing academic excellence. The partnership is expected to enhance the capabilities of Hasanuddin’s academic community, particularly within the International Relations Department.
