
Makassar, October 5, 2024 – The Department of International Relations, FISIP, Hasanuddin University (Unhas) held a public lecture and signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with PT Telekomunikasi Selular (Telkomsel), held at the Prof. Syukur Abdullah Hall, FISIP Unhas. The event, which raised the theme “Telkomsel and Global Telecommunication Business Expansion”, aims to open career opportunities for students through internship programs and skills development in the telecommunications industry.
The event was opened with remarks from Prof. Dr. Hasniati, S.Sos., M.Si. as the Deputy Dean of FISIP Unhas, who emphasized the importance of Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) and the Certified Internship and Independent Study (MSIB) program. Dr. Hasniati emphasized that this collaboration not only aims to open internship opportunities, but also to prepare students to face challenges in the world of work by developing soft skills and hard skills, especially in the fields of technology and digital transformation.
In line with that, Godo Intan, General Manager of Telkomsel Area PAMASUKA (Papua, Maluku, Sulawesi, Kalimantan), also said that this collaboration is aimed at developing talents from the Eastern Indonesia region. In his presentation, Godo Intan emphasized the importance of these skills as provisions for students to enter the telecommunications industry, especially in facing the challenges of submarine cables and digital infrastructure.
Public Lecture: Unlock Your Career Opportunity at Telkomsel
The public lecture presented by Magdalena L. Ovi, Manager of Youth Digital, Community and Lifestyle GTM Telkomsel PAMASUKA, raised the theme “Unlock Your Career Opportunity”. In this session, Magdalena explained about internship opportunities at Telkomsel and the skills needed in the 2020-2030 era. Telkomsel’s current business transformation requires the development of future skills, such as Resilience, stress tolerance and flexibility, which are very relevant for future talents.
Magdalena also explained the three internship categories available at Telkomsel, namely:
- MSIB (Certified Independent Study and Internship)
- TAP (Telkomsel Apprenticeship Program)
- PKL (Field Work Practice)
She advised students to actively seek career information through www.career.telkomsel.com and the Instagram account @LifeatTelkomsel. In addition, she also explained the recruitment mechanism at Telkomsel, emphasizing the importance of compiling an attractive CV by adding experience during college.
Signing of MoU and Closing
The event continued with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Department of International Relations, FISIP Unhas, represented by Prof. Dr. Phill Sukri, S.IP., M.Si, and Telkomsel, represented by Godo Intan, General Manager of Telkomsel Area PAMASUKA. This collaboration is expected to open up wider opportunities for students in developing skills and experience in the telecommunications industry.
The event was closed with closing remarks from Prof. Dr. Phill Sukri, S.IP., M.Si, Dean of FISIP Unhas, who expressed his gratitude to Telkomsel for this collaboration and emphasized that this step is a great opportunity for Unhas students to enter the industrial world. He also reminded students to make the most of this internship opportunity and hoped that this collaboration would be a role model for other collaborations.
